The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport Australia (CILTA) is proud of its reputation as the one truly INTERNATIONAL organisation representing members across all States and Territories of Australia.

Established in the UK in 1919, and operational in Australia since 1935, CILTA is part of a worldwide membership of over 33,000 members and more than 200 key corporations across some 30 countries. CILTA covers all those who work transporting passengers, moving freight and managing Australian domestic and international supply chains from the most junior school leaver to the most senior CEOs.

CILTA’s unique accreditation and development programs, along with its enhanced networking and event opportunities truly offer its members ‘they way forward for industry professionals’.

The principal objective of CILTA is to Promote and Encourage the Art and Science of Logistics and Transport. It provides leadership in research, policy and professional development and support continuous improvement in the industry.

EDUCATION & DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS
The Chartered Institute provides education through a suite of programs including:

- Certificate in Transport and Logistics Management
- Diploma in Transport and Logistics Management
- Advanced Diploma in Transport and Logistics Management.

Continuing Professional Development
CILTA maintains and manages CPD programs for Chartered Members and Certified Professional Logisticians (CPL)

Professional Certification
The Chartered Institute initiated the Certified Professional Logistician (CPL) program in Australia. The Institute along with four other associations offers professional
certification for Logisticians and Transport Planners (CTP) based on educational qualification and industry experience.

Corporate Membership
CILTA works in partnership with key corporations in the aim to create betterment in the T&L industry. Corporate Members include Mack Trucks, DGLogistics, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Australian Logistics Council, Australian Rail Track Corporation and Bean Media.

Research and Study Grants
CILTA provides for a range of research and study grants to undertake work in the interest of the Transport and Logistics industry

Accelerate Group
The Accelerate group consists of younger members (under 35 years) who have a career interest in the Transport and Logistics sector. CILTA has nearly 1,000 Accelerate members across all States and Territories.

Mentoring
In association with the Australian Logistics Council, CILTA is able to provide a national mentoring program for women. Working with ALC, the Chartered Institute plans to extend this program nationally to professionals in T&L.

COMMUNICATION
National E-Newsletter
CILTA provides members with a regular E-Newsletter advising of events and activities in the T&L industry in Australia and overseas.

CILT World
The CILT World publication is available to all members of CILT globally. The publication is produced on-line bi-monthly with the Annual Review being distributed to all members as a hard copy.

Knowledge Centre
The Knowledge Centre provides access to some 6,000 books and periodicals relating to Transport and Logistics, plus access to some 800 daily newspapers from across the world. A separate fee of $75 pa is charged for this service.

Benchmarking
An international benchmarking statistics developed by CILT UK is available to CILTA members

EVENTS
National Awards
The CILTA Australian Awards in Excellence in Supply Chain and Logistics is a national event recognising the exceptional efforts of individual and companies across Australia.

SMART Conference
CILT is an organising partner of the biennial SMART Conference. This Conference brings together leading Australian and international professionals to share in the achievements in supply chain and logistics International Connection. As a Council of an international organisation, CILTA is able to provide international connection for members in the interest of overseas studies/research or career opportunities.

MEMBERSHIP
Becoming a member of CILTA offers a lifelong professional anchor, a unique source of support, knowledge and networking and an international qualification of a professional institute recognised throughout the world. There are four grades of members to CILTA. Acceptance to respective grades enables
individuals to receive certain benefits and members are encourages to move up through the membership grades throughout their professional career to benefit from these members benefits.

Grades

An Affiliate is required to:
Be a person associated with and/or active in the Transport & Logistics Industry
Be a graduate of a relevant course without industry experience

A Student is required to:
Be a full time student in a relevant educational program associated with the transport and/or a logistics in the industry

Member (MILT) is required to:
Have completed education and training to a nature satisfactory to the council Or, have at least three years experience in Transport & Logistics

Chartered Member (MCILT) is required to:
Have at least three years at Supervisory level in the Transport and/or Logistics industry, or a relevant tertiary degree or diploma
Or, have at least three years management experience in the Transport and Logistics industry

Chartered Fellow (FCILT) is required to:
Have been a Chartered Member and with at least 7 year years in the Transport and Logistics industry;
Or, achieved a high level of eminence in the Transport & Logistics industry
