As part of the CILTA strategy which was formed last year by the National Executive Committee, it was identified that a National Program was required to reinvigorate the accelerate program. Currently that process is about to begin with consultation of all CILTA sections and a launch to follow.
While this planning is occuring our CEO Hal Morris recently went out to all accelerate members informing them of the changes ahead. He announced that there was a great importance to supporting young professionals in Transport and Logistics. T&L is 14.5% of GDP delivered through 165,000 businesses Australia wide providing about 1.25 million jobs.
It really is ‘the biggest show in town’ and has exciting career opportunities here in Australia and right around the world.
CILTA is the perfect career partner and supporter because we are strong and active in Australia and are linked in to the international CILT family of over 33,000 members worldwide. Our Accelerate Program is the leading program in Australia for young T&L professionals.
He further announced it was time to take Accelerate to the next level with:
- Stronger local committees providing leadership and flexibility in organizing local events for networking as well as career and professional development;
- Effective national coordination that will raise the profile of Accelerate and increase the importance of being part of the Accelerate Program;
- Stronger support from Corporate Sponsors and Partners secured with more effective sponsorship support material and tools from CILTA National;
- Updated National Awards, including Young Professional of the Year that will roll up from our local awards around Australia, to the National Awards and on to the international CILT Awards;
- Streamlined administration with book and pay on line through the CILTA web site soon to launch and easier communications with members through the membership database;
- Scholarships and overseas study tours planned for 2011;
- Greater transparency and KPIs with young professional numbers becoming part of CILTA monthly reporting
To deliverer these however we obviously need some re-structure and as of 1 July 2010 Accelerate will be a program of CILTA and no longer a separate organisation.
The Accelerate program will continue to deliver networking and professional development events as well as mentoring programs etc. Local Accelerate committees will continue and all those on the Accelerate database who have not yet joined CILTA will be invited to do so for as little as $35.
If you are under the age of 35 you will automatically be listed as a Accelerate Member.
Please also note that the Accelerate website will be re-directed to www.cilta.com.au. News content, event and contacts will be listed within CILTA wesbite and section details.
