SA Accelerate was pleased to host their Annual General Meeting at The Lakes Resort Hotel on Wednesday July 14th 2010.

The AGM saw some major changes to the Accelerate SA Leadership Committee in 2010. Five Committee members stood down including the departure of dedicated Executive Secretary Irene Sesel and Co-Sponsorship & Marketing Manager Chris Reinig due to extended overseas odysseys. Accelerate SA’s Leadership Committee also said goodbye to General Members Evan Knapp (inaugural Chairperson) and Pat Tietz who are currently pursuing opportunities outside of the T&L industry. Shaisee Fenn (former Chairperson) also stood down due to the increased demands that motherhood have brought.

Following the presentation of gifts to the outgoing Leadership Committee, Tim Hutchinson (outgoing Chairperson) delivered the Chairperson’s report. Tim highlighted the increase in member numbers for 2009-2010 in addition to the quality of events that were held over the past year. Events such as Speed Networking, Minister for Transport Patrick Conlon’s Address and the DP World Site tour were well attended and enjoyed by all.

The Leadership Committee nominations were then presented by Shaisee Fenn and the Leadership Committee was declared (as there were not more nominees than positions available).

Following the formalities, Adam Gourlay from Customs Frontline made a very interesting presentation about the Australian Customs Service’s activities in SA in addition to advising members what to look out for when assessing if something could be suspicious.

Subsequently, the newly elected Chairperson Kimberley Salafia presented lucky Accelerate SA member Clarissa Cancherini with the door prize (generously donated $80 Haigh’s Chocolates Hamper). The AGM was then closed and the members along with the newly elected Leadership Committee took part in an informal networking session over drinks and nibbles.
